For Emily and I, being parents is a massive responsibility and undertaking, but the most amazing journey we will share together. In the time that I have been with my wife, I have felt an overwhelming sense of love both from her and for her.

I could not imagine a world in which she was not with me. Knowing that I’ve experienced so many great things because of this love it is clear to me that we can do amazing things which includes giving to a child all of the wonderful things we share as a couple. Our marriage has provided such stability and love for each other and we are now ready to share that with a child.

From simple things like barbecue Sunday to big things like the sharing of holiday traditions, we can show a little one what unconditional love looks like. I think we both understand that this will not be the easiest undertaking, but such a great gift. I know that Emily is going to be an amazing mother and I am going to ensure that I am a great provider of support and comfort for us as a family. Being a parent is going to open a whole new world of learning and challenges, but we know that together, we can offer our child an amazing life.

Our pets are incredibly important to our home life. Our dogs Bella, Molly, and Kevin have taught me patience and showed me what it is to put a life before your own. Each of these wonderful “fur babies” have had personalities all their own, and with that would come various challenges. Learning to understand the loss of a family member when our dog Molly passed away was very hard for us, but helped us to learn to open our hearts even after heartbreak. That big lesson of learning to put someone above your own wants has only translated to that of my wife and what would be our future child. Our current pets, Bella and Kevin, are very playful and protective of their family and I cannot wait for them to grow up with a new member of the family. I am grateful for having the dogs we have and I know they are going to love the little one we bring into our lives.

Tom About Emily: There are a whole host of qualities that I admire in my partner, Emily. One that immediately comes to mind is her organizational skills. No big task seems daunting with her ability to break down large asks and create smaller ones to accomplish the overall goal. I’ve seen that in something like the adoption journey we are on now as well as when we were purchasing our first house. I don’t think I would be in the wonderful position I am now if not, for the fact that my wife is so organized and goal driven.

Emily About Tom: The quality that I admire most in Tom is his dedication to ensuring that his family is taken care of. He takes on the responsibility of being the bread winner for us without complaint or pressure. Knowing that he is our rock and I can depend on him means the world to me. I am so grateful that I can always count on him to be there for me emotionally as well. Whether I need him to be there for me after a hard day or when our family needs someone to depend on, I know Tom will always be dedicated to his family.

We are looking forward to our families welcoming our child and loving him or her as much as we will.

We are both very close with all of our siblings as well as nieces as nephews. Ours families are quite spread out which gives us a great opportunity to travel to see them as often as we can. Holidays are a big deal for both of our families so that is the main time when we are all together. Our get togethers are usually centered around meals and being together. Especially for Christmas, Emily's family tends to spend time playing with the kids, making a large meal together, and seeing family in the area. Tom's family tradition includes going to a Christmas Day movie, shrimp scampi, and watching a sporting event together.

Our parents are so thrilled at the idea of adding another grandchild as well as siblings getting to be aunts and uncles. We cannot wait to share in the joy of introducing a little one to the ones we love most and having them enjoy the traditions we have created as a family.

We have lived in Florida together for about 8 years now and we love the area we call home. We specifically chose our current home with the idea of family in mind. Our child will love growing up in a home with an open family room space, a pool in the backyard, and even a neighborhood park right behind our house! The house itself has 5 bedrooms and plenty of gathering room. The kitchen and backyard are our favorite areas since cooking and bbq are some of our favorite things to do. The neighborhood has so many different areas to go on walks, friendly neighbors with children, and is a great place to raise a child. There are community events and monthly food trucks for everyone to get together too!

We hope we have created a space that would be a welcoming and loving place to raise a child where they can grow up comfortable, happy, and always safe.
